Jakarta, kmhdi.org – Kesatuan Mahasiswa Hindu Dharma Indonesia (KMHDI) strongly condemns the brutal shooting of Hindu tourists in the Pahalgam tourist area, Kashmir, India, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The incident resulted in at least 26 deaths and 17 injuries.
The General Chairman of KMHDI, I Wayan Darmawan, expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized the importance of protecting human rights, including the right to travel safely.
“We are deeply concerned and strongly condemn this inhumane act,” said Darmawan on Wednesday, April 24, 2025.
“Violence in the name of ideology or politics can never be justified.”
Darmawan urged the Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to take diplomatic action to ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens in India and to express solidarity with the victims while condemning the violence in international forums.
In addition, he called on all elements of Indonesian society to avoid provocation, maintain peace, and continue to promote peaceful resolutions to humanitarian conflicts worldwide, including the incident in Kashmir.
“We advocate for conflict resolution based on humanitarian principles, not violence,” he emphasized.
Previously, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, a shooting attack targeted tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, India, killing at least 26 people and injuring 17 others. The fatalities included 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national.
This attack is one of the deadliest in India in nearly two decades, with the last major incident occurring in Mumbai in 2008. The Resistance Front (TRF), a militant group reportedly led by Hafiz Saeed—a figure linked to past terror attacks in India—claimed responsibility for the attack.
